The new ‘Mirei, a beautiful pair of functional spectacles are designed especially for life in and out of the garden. Designed in a warm, amber-coloured acetate frame to complement most complexions, the spectacles boats a panto lens for peripheral vision and eye protection, cable temples that firmly embrace the ear and snazzy flip-clip sunglasses for when sun protection is needed.
According to Niwaki, the Japanese lifestyle brand dedicated to gardeners and craftsmen, the design of new glasses had to comply with their demands that they mustn’t slip when bending over, they must protect your eyes from the sun and that they mustn’t look out of place when you rejoin society’s hustle and bustle.
Tom Broughton, Founder of Cubitts explained: “My favourite ever optical book (The Principles and Practice of Optical Dispensing by Lewis Sasieni, 1961) has a dedicated section on spectacles for gardening, and that idea has always stayed with me. The opportunity to create a perfect pair of gardening spectacles, with a team as dedicated, skilled and fastidious as Niwaki, has been a real privilege. I’m delighted with the final result – spectacles that are vocational first, functional second, and beautiful third.”
The Mirei spectacles will be available from Tuesday the 25th of June at Cubitts Hampstead, Cubitts Cambridge and Niwaki Chiltern Street.
