Delivered by UK Business Climate Hub in partnership with Planet Mark and a coalition of leading business associations, media outlets and corporates, the UK Net Zero Business Census looks to ascertain the progress UK businesses have made on getting to net zero.
The largest national research initiative of its kind, the census aims to establish the number of businesses in the UK that are measuring their carbon footprint, how they are progressing, the actions they are taking to reduce their footprints, analysed by region, sector and scale of the business.
The census is open to all UK-based businesses of any size or industry, including those who are on their net zero journeys as well as those who have not yet planned to take action to reduce their carbon emissions. The survey consists of 10 multiple-choice questions, which reportedly takes just seven minutes to complete. The deadline to complete the survey is the 30th of June, though there may be an extension until the 7th of July, capitalising on the start of Net Zero Week, which follows on from London Climate Action Week.
The Garden Centre Association (GCA) is an official partner of the nation’s first Net Zero Business Census and is encouraging all its members to participate.
GCA CEO, Peter Burks explains: “This project aims to establish a definitive benchmark for the private sector’s contribution to the UK’s national 2050 net zero target through a strong collaborative effort to gather the largest ever dataset reflecting UK organisations progress on net zero. We’re urging our garden centre and associate members to take part in the Census and help shape invaluable insights for policymakers, investors, and business leaders, guiding the nation’s journey towards a sustainable future. It’s open to all UK organisations. We hope all our members can get behind this and we can work together to drive positive change and pave the way for a more sustainable future.”
