Inspired by on form, the 2024 Stone at Falconhurst exhibition will be an intimate collection of works by renowned sculptors including Regis Chapman, Luke Dickinson, Jason Mulligan, Ana Ruiz Agüí, Guy Stevens, Mark Stonestreet and Anthony Turner displayed throughout the gardens at Falconhurst, which have been lovingly tended by five generations of Talbots.
Nicola Talbot was inspired to host an exhibition of sculpture in stone when she visited on form at Asthall Manor, and met the organiser, Rosie Pearson. on form was established in 2002 by Pearson and held biannually since, displaying hundreds of sculptures throughout the iconic, Julian and Isabel Bannerman designed Cotswold garden. Though on form at Asthall Manor is on pause, Pearson fully encourages (on form) sculptors in the meantime, in their endeavours at other exhibitions such as at Falconhurst.
Following the on form example, sculptures will be exhibited throughout the Falconhurst gardens which is managed in a sustainable and ecological way. Wild flowers and areas of long grass contrast wide herbaceous borders and emphasises the location of Falconhurst sitting happily in deep countryside yet only an hour’s car ride from London. Areas of the garden have been set aside for creating cut flower beds and a market garden area growing vegetables for the Falconhurst Farm Shop.
There are already plans in the works for a 2025 Stone at Falconshurst exhibition which promises growth in terms of the stable of artists, and will also see works exhibited in a dedicated gallery space inside the main house.
This year’s Stone at Falconhurst exhibition opened on the 30th June, and is open for visitors from Monday to Friday 10am-4pm; Saturdays 11am-3pm.
