GIMA President and Greenfingers Ambassador, Kate Ebbens has been running, every single day of 2024, no matter the weather or mood, to raise vital funds for Greenfingers. She has managed to surpass her ambitious £20,000 target, having (to date) impressively raised an over £30,000 for the charity. The funds were raised via donations to her JustGiving page as well as corporate sponsorships.
Greenfingers is a national charity dedicated to supporting life-limited children and their families who spend time in hospices around the UK. The charity is committed to creating, beautiful, well-designed outdoor spaces for children to enjoy with family and friends, for play, fun, or therapeutic rest and relaxation. To date, Greenfingers Charity has created over 60 inspiring gardens in children’s hospices around the country and has a further waiting list of hospices that need help.
After her mammoth challenge, Ebbens said: “2024 has undoubtedly been one of the most challenging yet rewarding years of my life. Running every day was tough, but knowing it was making a real difference for children and families in hospices kept me going. As Greenfingers Chair Boyd Douglas-Davies recently said, two words that should never go together are ‘children’ and ‘hospice.’ This heartbreaking reality motivated me to push through, even on my hardest days. The incredible support I received along the way also played a huge role in keeping me going. From friends and family to colleagues, industry connections, and everyone in between, I am truly overwhelmed by the encouragement and generosity I experienced. The fundraising total is beyond anything I could have imagined. From the bottom of my heart, thank you to everyone who helped make my 2024 challenge an unforgettable journey. I am so grateful for every single contribution and act of kindness.”
