Working closely with the Series Editor, Gallery Producers and Horticultural Assistant Producers, the Horticultural Researcher provides specialist horticultural support to the team, creating over 12 hours of BBC coverage of this year’s RHS Chelsea Flower Show in May. The researcher will play a key role in the horticultural team, researching and developing content that will engage and entertain a variety of audiences across the BBC.
Working on the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, the candidate will help deliver coverage of the event to BBC1 and BBC2 prime and to BBC daytime. The ideal candidate for this exciting opportunity needs to have a passion for plants and garden design, and desire to showcase all that this prestigious event has to offer to a wide audience. You will also assist in the delivery of VTs filmed prior to the event and join the team on location during the event, providing horticultural support to the editorial team and presenters.
The ideal candidate must have a relevant horticultural qualification and a good understanding of the principles of garden design. Experience of horticultural events is desirable. The candidate will also possess excellent organisational skills and have experience working at events. The candidate must be a good team player and communicator. The candidate must be able to travel, overnight and work on location across the UK. They will also be required to be on location for the duration of the Chelsea event week in May.
