How to grow a garden: Find a plant for every place

Horticulturist, author and television presenter Frances Tophill has written a new book for children, exploring different gardens, plants, and nature activities.

Exploring twenty different gardens,’How to Grow a Garden’ by Frances Tophill, budding gardens will learn about the wildlife, plants, the soil, as well as gain inspiration for seasonal growing and nature activities from this new book. Wherever they may live, young gardeners will discover a plant for every place.

“I hope you all enjoy and it may help inspire a few young people to see the magic and adventure that is the natural world,” said Tophill.

Joyfully illustrated by the London based, Charlotte Ager, who has the ability to communicate the difficult and challenging, whilst providing much capacity for joy and silliness in her work. She works on a multitude of projects and illustrations that aim to connect to viewers emotionally.

Tophill is a horticulturist, author and television presenter known for her contributions to Love Your Garden and Gardeners’ World. She has written five books, including ‘The Modern Gardener: A practical guide for creating a beautiful and creative garden’ and in 2024, ‘A Year in a Small Garden: Creating a Beautiful Garden in Any Space‘.
