Greenfingers is a national charity dedicated to supporting life-limited children and their families who spend time in hospices around the UK. The charity is committed to creating, beautiful, well-designed outdoor spaces for children to enjoy with family, friends and siblings, whether through play and fun, or therapeutic rest and relaxation.
Compered by Greenfingers’ Patrons, Jim Carter and Imelda Staunton CBE several key supporters, including GIMA, Meadow View Stone, Glee, The Horticultural Golfing Society, Millbrook Garden Centres, Woodmansterne, Glee and the HTA were in attendance. An auction held during the evening, and a silent auction held elsewhere, added to the much needed funds for the charity.
Greenfingers Chair, Sue Allen, confirmed that the charity has passed the halfway mark for the Silver Anniversary appeal, which sees the charity attempting to raise £2,000,025 before 2025.
Linda Petrons, Director of Fundraising & Communications at the Greenfingers Charity said: “A huge thank you to everyone that joined us at the Greenfingers Charity Fundraising Dinner. Once again, it was a truly wonderful evening and showcased the incredible support that so many have for the charity and the work we do. Thanks must go to Jim and Imelda for being such great hosts, and to all of those that provided prizes and dug deep to help us raise more than £30,000″.
Petrons explained that the funds raised will go a long way “in helping us to create even more magical and therapeutic garden spaces. Spaces, where children get to enjoy time outdoors, where families spend quality time together, and those left behind come to remember those lost, are more important than many of us will ever truly realise. Being able to continue to design and build these spaces is an honour, and it is only possible due to the generosity of our supporters so thank you to each and every one of you.”
To date the charity has created over 60 inspiring gardens in children’s hospices around the country and has a further waiting list of hospices that need help.
