The Assistant Ecologist will support the Lead Ecologist at Knepp on regular surveys and species recording in the rewilding project, the regenerative farm and the rewilded garden, data entry, and report writing. The role will also involve helping to host research projects with partnership organisations, students, film crews and visiting groups, and helping to organise and lead some safaris.
The successful candidate will have a thorough knowledge of species recording techniques and will be able to demonstrate excellent species identification skills in their specialist groups. They will be hard working, conscientious, organised, and be able to motivate themselves to get up for early morning surveys as well as staying up for late night ones when required.
The candidate will be able to clearly communicate the value of rewilding and species recording to a wide variety of visitors. An affable nature is vital, as is a passion for conservation and rewilding.
