Effective April 5, 2025, the new U.S. customs regulations require all shipments to the U.S. with a declared customs value over $800 formal entry processing, which is down from the previous $2,500 threshold due to new U.S – impacting all businesses exporting to America.
An indication of the tariffs disruption to the global trading system, the delivery giant, DHL, has announced that they are temporarily suspending both B2B and B2C shipments to the U.S. with a customs value exceeding $800 (£603), from “any origin” – effective from the 21st of April, 2025. Shipments below that value, aren’t affected but the courier warns that they still face delays.
Part of Germany’s Deutsche Post, DHL handles 1.5 billion parcels annually and has reported that the substantial regulatory changes have significantly disrupted delivery operations, causing extensive delays for US-bound packages from across the globe.
The company added that the suspension is temporary measure, and will share updates as the situation evolves.
