Part of the London Open Gardens scheme, the Battersea Roof Gardens are only open to ballot winners who then book a Battersea Roof Gardens entry ticket for an allotted garden entry time. Entry to the ballot requires the purchase of a London Open Gardens Weekend ticket.
Taking place on the 7-8th of June, over 100 gardens will be opening their gates for the London Open Gardens weekend. The event, now in its 26th year, provides access to secret squares and gardens for all, raises vital funds to help protect the ‘green lungs’ of London – the London Park & Gardens. London Open Gardens isn’t just about seeing beautiful places, it’s about understanding and protecting the green heritage which has made London liveable throughout history.
The Battersea Roof Gardens are part of the 42-acre mixed-use Battersea Power Station neighbourhood. Spanning 29,000 ft2 and home to 23,000 plants and 55 trees, Battersea Roof Gardens offers inspiring views of the adjacent Grade II* listed Battersea Power Station and the London skyline. Designed by James Corner of Field Operations and LDA Design, the lavishly planted garden follows the unique undulations of the Foster + Partners designed building on which it sits.
Battersea Roof Garden is a prized addition to the portfolio of special spaces which only open to the public once a year for London Open Gardens. From historic courtyards to rooftop oases, these hidden gems show off the city’s verdant side, normally out of sight on rooftops, or hidden behind fences, gates and private walls.
“The Battersea Roof Gardens ballot is a unique chance to see a truly special green space in the city for one weekend only, in support of a great cause! The festival raises funds to protect the parks that we love, and we are delighted that Battersea Power Station is participating for the first time,” said Nathan Oley, London Parks and Gardens Chair.
Sarah Banham, Head of Communities and Sustainability at Battersea Power Station Development Company, assed: “We are thrilled to be opening Battersea Roof Gardens to the public for London Open Gardens 2025. As well as providing inspiring, panoramic views of London, rooftop gardens like Battersea Roof Gardens are an important way of bringing greenery to cities and promoting biodiversity, creating safe habitats for bees, bugs and birds. We look forward to showcasing this remarkable space to the public during this weekend, and encourage visitors to plan their whole day out here with over 150 shops, restaurants, cafes and unique leisure experiences.”
The Battersea Roof Gardens ballot closes on Friday, the 23rd of May at 7pm.
