Police issue another appeal to locate stolen statues

Wiltshire Police have issued an update and another public appeal to help locate the statues which were stolen from Iford Manor in June.

She-Wolf statue stolen from Iford Manor

During their annual Jazz Festival, on the evening of the 19th until the morning of the 20th of June, four bronze statues, including the estate’s prized She-Wolf with Romulus and Remus statue, were stolen from the Iford Manor, near Bradford on Avon.

Since then, an investigation is ongoing, led by the Wiltshire Police Burglary team. Late June, two suspects, aged 31 and 39 from the Bristol area, were arrested on suspicion of burglary and remain on bail while enquiries continue. However, the location of statues remains unknown and the Police have issued another appeal for any knowledge of the location of the statues.

“This investigation remains a priority for our team and we are keen to hear from anyone who has had these items cross their path. The items are thought to be intact rather than melted down, but may be being stored somewhere nationally or have been shipped abroad. We would urge anyone who has seen them to please contact us,” said DC Jo Chesshire of the Wiltshire Police Burglary team.

The stolen items:

  • Bust of Antinous
  • Pair of symmetrical fawns, copies of the Villa Dei Papyri fawns
  • She-Wolf with Romulus and Remus, including the bronze base
