Launching at the show, glasshouse manufacturer, Alitex will debut its greenhouse base design, The Wainscot. Over a year in development the greenhouse’s innovative aluminium base is designed to support a range of National Trust greenhouse choices, but can be fully customised and built in a fraction of the time – and is moveable.
For the launch, the company’s 63rd RHS Chelsea exhibit aims to conjure the nostalgia of the British summer. Set within a classic cottage garden are two Alitex greenhouses: a substantial mono-pitch lean-to Messenger Greenhouse and the National Trust Mottisfont on the new Wainscot base in Greensand.
Planted with plants grown at Alitex HQ in the South Downs and Form Nursery, the stand is designed to be a demonstration of a thriving ecosystem, creating a haven for pollinators. Conscientious rainwater harvesting options will also be incorporated, for efficient watering of both indoor and outdoor plants. The stand will feature the brand’s new dipping tank, which has been created in collaboration with Arthur Jacks. A stone pathway by Westminster Stone and range of Alitex x Claverton Cloches accentuate the classic, English Cottage Garden design.
C.Atherley x Alitex
In celebration of the new design and the relationship between floral scent and nostalgia, Alitex will be partnering with C.Atherley, Cath Kidston’s botanically inspired scent and bath brand. The pair, working with specialist nursery, Fibrex, will showcase a varied collection of pelargoniums, including Candy Dancer, Odoratissimun and Hirtum. The exhibit offers a fragrant reverie and ‘Pellymania’ as C.Atherely launches ‘Range No. 3’ a new geranium hand cream and bath oil.
“At Alitex, we believe a greenhouse is more than just a place to grow, it’s a space for reflection, inspiration, and connection to nature. This year, we wanted to bring the essence of an English garden to Chelsea, blending heritage with sustainability and showcasing the transformative power of scent and growth. We are thrilled to have worked with C.Atherley and Fibrex Nurseries, who were introduced to us by Alitex advocate and friend to the brand Jo Fairley, as their contributions further enhance the beauty and spirit of this year’s presentation.
“It was hugely important to us to bring such a substantial display of our Messenger lean-to greenhouse. We work regularly with the intricacies of listed buildings and greenhouses to provide longterm, sustainable solutions and we want to champion this. There is a heady magic to growing from scratch and the sensory experience of gardening, having a stand bursting with scent, colour and debuting so much newness – with our new collaborations and The Wainscot greenhouse – is a really exciting time for us as a British brand,” explained Nelly Hall, Brand Director, Alitex.
