The ornamental grass specialist’s garden is renowned for its naturalistic planting which flourishes in the ever-changing climate. The grasses, now undoubtedly the focal point, form the perfect backdrop for the herbaceous perennials.
Held on the 2nd of September, the tour will centre on the garden’s evolving seasonal features, including perennials and extensive plantings of Knoll’s renowned grasses. Lucas will share his extensive knowledge and experience gained over three decades of living and working at Knoll Gardens.
Lucas, a leading authority on ornamental grasses, centres his planting style on ‘right plant right place’. The dry meadows and rain garden, shady beds, sunny borders and gravel garden all provide practical planting ideas and welcome insight into using the right plants that will cope and thrive in changing and challenging conditions. In 2023 the garden surrounding the Dragon Pond, was replanted in the prairie style with a mix of perennials against a structured backbone of grasses.
Places are limited and must be pre-booked via the National Garden Scheme (NGS). Refreshments will be available and all the proceeds go towards supporting the work of the NGS.
