For the ‘Black & White’ photo project, IGPOTY have recommended photographers to be “creative, explore different botanical shapes and take advantage of the texture, patterns and shapes emphasised by the increased contrast of black and white”. Through use of black and white, aim to capture a new experience, essence or feeling that colour will struggle to express.

Images need to be themed within the realms of garden photography, which covers flora, fauna and fungi. People should not be the main focus of the compositions.

The International Garden Photographer of the Year is one of the world’s most respected photography competitions and exhibition, particularly within the genres of garden, plant, flower and botanical photography. IGPOTY is owned and organised by Mirror Plate Media Ltd and supported by the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, London.

Closing date for entries for the black & white photo competition is the 28th of March 28, 2024.
