Botanical Society of Britain & Ireland: England Officer

The BSBI’s are seeking an England Officer for a one-year pilot project to help support & nurture the botanical community across England.

Founded in 1836, the Botanical Society of Britain and Ireland (BSBI) is for everyone who is interested in the flora of Britain and Ireland, and is one of the world’s largest contributors of biological records.

The post holder will work with and support a dedicated network of County Recorders, local groups and partner organisations in England whose common characteristic is a love of plants.

The role aims to build a diverse community of botanists; increase participation in structured surveys and botanical recording; improve data flow; and drive a passion for plants. This includes supporting and enhancing BSBI’s England volunteer network, promoting recording and project work, providing and facilitating training in a range of topics, and raising the profile of botany and BSBI.

The BSBI are looking for someone with strong people, communication and project management skills along with experience in field botany, biological recording and training delivery.

The chosen candidate will have the opportunity to work with and support the community of botanists in England and make a positive difference for wild plants.

  • Full time, 5 days (37.5 hours) per week
  • £34,500 with 4% pension contribution
  • Homeworking with some travel across the UK
