Community composting initiative

The Marldon Community Composting scheme promotes home composting and offers locals a place to compost their bulky garden waste for usable garden soil conditioner.

Garden waste is a valuable resource and should be utilised as sustainably as possible. From a wellbeing standpoint, research shows that the social benefits seen through groups such as this help to reinforce social ties and offer a sense of belonging to a broader community.

Since its launch in 2021, the Devon based composting group has been growing steadily and includes a former Teignbridge Council environment and recycling officer. The scheme, located on a local farm land will be fully functional by March 2024. In support of the initiative, STIGA have donated a CS 750 chainsaw.
