The Harper Asprey Wildlife Rescue (HAWR) is a Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) wildlife hospital. They work to educate the community, improve habitats for native species and care for those that need it. They work 24/7, 365 days a year to respond to nearly 3,000 wildlife casualties. Many are on the UK Biodiversity Action Plan (BAP) priority species list; which are those that are identified as being the most threatened and requiring conservation action under the Plan.
According to the wildlife charity, the donation from Crocus will go towards the costs of running their veterinary surgery. As with any accident and emergency hospital they require medical equipment and supplies; specialist PPE and cleaning products; office supplies; life saving regulated drugs and specialist food. In addition to triaging, diagnosing and treating wildlife they also run an active veterinary internship programme – so that veterinary practitioners in the UK, and abroad, build their knowledge and gain experience in treating wildlife.
Offering over 7000 plants, tools and gardening paraphenalia through their website, Crocus has become the UK’s leading gardening website.
