Cultivating Conservation: Alitex marks 20 Years and £1 Million with the National Trust

Marking 20 years of working with the National Trust, Alitex has raised over £1 million to support the conservation charity’s vital work in caring for nature, beauty and history.

The collaboration began in 2004, when Alitex was developing a new style of greenhouse for cottage and town gardens. Inspired by the National Trust parks and gardens, Alitex launched the first three greenhouses, The Hidcote, The Scotney and The Stourhead which became the National Trust Greenhouse Collection. The collection has since expanded to eight designs, including the Mottisfont, Tatton, Wimpole and Cliveden.

A percentage from the sale of greenhouses in the collection goes directly to the National Trust, which has to date, raised £1 million. While all donations currently go into the charity’s broader garden conservation fund, Alitex and the National Trust are exploring ways to support individual garden projects, such as training opportunities and planting schemes. According to the greenhouse manufacturer, the organisations’ shared values and commitment to sustainability are the driving force behind their collaboration – celebrating and protecting Britain’s gardens.

“We are incredibly proud of what this collaboration has achieved over the past 20 years. Not only has it allowed us to celebrate the heritage and beauty of the National Trust’s places through design, but it has also contributed directly to its conservation work. To know that our greenhouses are supporting gardens across the country while giving back to the Trust is something we as a team really cherish,” said Nelly hall, Brand Director at Alitex.

Looking ahead, the partnership continues to grow stronger. What began as a collaboration rooted in design has deepened into a shared purpose, from the ethical nature of Alitex’s supply chain to the National Trust’s new 10 year strategy promoting nature.

Clare Brown, Head of Brand Licensing Development at the National Trust, said: “We cherish our relationship with Alitex as they reflect our values and create the most beautifully crafted glasshouses of the highest quality that are inspired by our places. They are also our longest serving licensee, and so far, this collaboration has raised over £1 million for vital conservation work, helping us ensure the gardens in our care can be enjoyed by future generations. It has been such a pleasure to work with them over the years and see their business grow – and we are looking forward to continuing this wonderful collaboration.”
