
David Austin Roses has announced the launch of a new rose, the details of which are to be revealed at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show Press Day, which takes place on Monday, the 19th May. Full details of the new rose, including its name and inspiration, will be shared on the day. According to the rose breeder, this year’s launch is set to be their most high-profile yet and will be marking a significant milestone in the company’s history.
Each year, over 40,000 seedlings are carefully nurtured, evaluated and gradually whittled down to just one final rose that meets the required standards of beauty, fragrance and resilience. This year’s new rose, say David Austin has been 12 years in the making. Led by head breeding manager, Carl Bennett, who has been with the company for over three decades, only the best varieties make it through to introduction.
