The PPA Awards recognise innovation and outstanding work across 27 categories, from highly respected editors, world-class writers, marketing experts, and commercial stars, to the designs, digital products, creativity, and events that bring brands to life.
Celebrated yesterday on the 26th of June, at the City Central at the HAC, the evening recognised and celebrated the talented people, work, and dynamism of media publishers, suppliers, and partners in the industry.
Tom Howard, the editor of the RHS The Garden magazine won the Editor of the Year Award in the Consumer Media category. This award celebrates the editors of a consumer media brand or publication whose consistent brilliance and understanding of their industry sector has put their brand at the forefront of the market. They know their audience needs and deliver a high standard of content that is both trusted and helps their communities in their roles.
As Head of RHS Editorial, Howard has been at the helm of The Garden since December 2020. The Garden is a monthly publication for the members of the RHS, has a circulation of 520,000. In November 2023, Howard won Tom Howard won the British Society of Magazine Awards (BSME) Editor Of The Year Award, in the Homes, Gardens & Country category.
“Wining an award like this would not be possible without the wonderful team on The Garden magazine, who put up with my nonsense day in day out. Perhaps the person who bears the biggest brunt of this nonsense is Mark Timothy,” said Howard.
For this year’s PPA Award, Howard was up against the likes of: Deborah Joseph, editor of Glamour magazine (Condé Nast); Greg Williams, editor of Wired (Condé Nast), Keith Kendrick, editor Good Food (Immediate); Kenya Hunt, Editor in Chief, ELLE UK (Hearst UK) and Morgan Jeffery editor, RadioTimes.com (Immediate).
