National Tulip Day

Museumplein Amsterdam, Netherlands

The start of the tulip season is celebrated every year on National Tulip Day in Amsterdam on the Museum Square in the centre of Amsterdam. From this day, cut tulips are promoted at florists across the country. Visitors are allowed to pick tulips for free in a specially designed tulip pick-up garden. There will be around 200.000 tulips in the free pick-up garden. Note, the tulips that visitors can pick in designated tulip garden are grown indoors. The tulip fields only start to bloom at the end of March.
