Fashion & Farming: Sewing the Seeds

Interesting event, uniting fashion and farming to explore what we farm and wear, reconnecting the farm-to-food-and-fabric cycle.

The brainchild of Mareta Doyle, founder of the Kinsale Arts Festival and Sotheby’s consultant, the inaugural Fashion & Farming festival weekend aims to bring together creative minds, change makers and dreamers to sow the seeds for fresh ideas – in the hope to change the world we wear.

Supported by Ciara Hunt, the former editor of Porter, Tatler, Hello!, InStyle and The World of Interiors, and arts & culture journalist and writer, Gemma Tipton, the event promises an interesting opportunity to re-explore the connection between what we wear and where it comes from.

Closely linked, the horticulture industry has much to add to this conversation and it’s therefore good to see a few familiar faces amongst the speakers, including; Sir Tim Smit, co-founder of the Eden Project and the Lost Gardens of Heligan; The Land Gardeners, Henrietta Courtauld and Bridget Elworthy and Adam Clayton, who is obviously known for being U2’s bass guitarist, but is also a very keen gardener.

Other confirmed speakers include; Carry Somers, Fashion Revolution; Coco Panazza, My Wardrobe HQ; Darina Allen, Ballymaloe Cookery School; Simon Coveney, TD; Sean O’Sullivan, SOSV (USA); Helen Keys. Mallon Linen; Brigid Barry, Farming for Nature; Dylan Jones, London Evening Standard; Mary Fellowes, sustainability expert and creative director; Jeremy Irons and Sinead Cusack, actors, farmers and activists.

Full details of the programme and additional speakers will be announced soon. Fashion & Farming will take place from the 9-11th of May in Kinsale, Ireland.
