Host of the Antiques Roadshow, Question Time and Fake or Fortune, Fiona Bruce will be joining the National Garden Scheme (NGS) as an ambassador. Bruce was the first woman to host the BBC Ten O’Clock News and the general election results programme. She joins NGS Ambassadors; Emma Bridgewater CBE, Danny Clarke, Alan Gray, Rachel De Thame, Joe Swift and Jo Whiley.
Commenting on her new role Bruce says: “I am thrilled to be a new Ambassador of the National Garden Scheme. I’ve been visiting National Garden Scheme gardens for as long as I can remember, it’s one of the great pleasures of my life, so to be part of the charity is a total thrill. I love gardening, it’s a big part of my life. I have to say I’m not the most skilful gardener, but I make up for in enthusiasm what I lack in skill.
“The National Garden Scheme is a wonderful charity, it gives people the opportunity to see what can be done, to get inspiration from other gardens, to just get out there in nature – that’s why I’ve visited so many gardens over the years. And it also raises an incredible amount of money and makes an important contribution to our country’s nursing and healthcare.
“To be part of this as the charity heads towards its centenary in 2027 is also a great honour and a privilege, I can’t wait to get started. I am genuinely thrilled to be part of the National Garden Scheme.”
