Featuring talent from across the UK and beyond, the 2026 SGLD finalists showcase a diverse spectrum of work, encompassing intimate urban retreats to expansive landscapes.
The shortlisted projects range from a Mediterranean-inspired garden influenced by travels in Spain and Argentina, to a pollinator-focused design, a compact coastal garden in Kent, and a biophilic landscape for a secondary school created to support students’ psychological health and wellbeing.
Established names such as Ann-Marie Powell FSGLD, Gavin McWilliam MSGLD, and Matthew Wilson MSGLD are joined by emerging talents, including Miria Harris MSGLD and Sheila Jack MSGLD, alongside newcomers Anca Panait, Kathryn Cox, and Laura Burt.

Selected by a panel of independent experts, including designers, academics, journalists, and horticultural professionals, and chaired by garden designer, author, and lecturer Richard Sneesby, the shortlist reflects the diversity and creativity within the field.
“The shortlist for the SGLD Awards 2026 demonstrates the extraordinary breadth and quality of garden and landscape design today. What is particularly exciting is the mix of established practitioners alongside emerging voices, all of whom are pushing boundaries and showing how design can enrich lives, connect communities, and respond creatively to the challenges of our time. These awards are not only a celebration of beautiful gardens and landscapes but also of the innovation, resilience, and vision shaping the future of our profession,” said Lynne Marcus FSGLD, Chair of the SGLD Awards.

Twenty of the gardens will be entered into the People’s Choice Award which is open for votes via the SGLD website on 1st October 2025 for one month. The same finalists will also be competing for the Grand Award which will be decided by the judging panel and presented in partnership with the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS).
