The retailer has opened an office in London to support the growing number of British businesses selling to U.S. consumers via their online marketplace, Walmart.com. To mark the occasion, UK businesses are invited to attend the free, face-to-face Seller Summit in London.
Established in 1962, the American multinational retail corporation operates a chain of hypermarkets, discount department stores, and supermarkets in the United States. Headquartered in Bentonville, Arkansas, Wallmart operates more than 10,750 stores in 19 countries, along with their online marketplace. As of the end of FY2024, the company employed some 2.1 million employees worldwide, of which approximately 1.6 million in the U.S.
The UK Walmart Seller Summit offers UK businesses the opportunity to
- Connect with Walmart’s UK team
- Gain market intelligence on growth opportunities in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, and Chile
- Explore Walmart’s localised support model and investment in European sellers
- Meet and share experiences with established and prospective Walmart sellers
According to the retailer, they have made it significantly easier for UK and European companies to access the U.S. market, allowing businesses to register with a UK entity, manage accounts via a new Seller App, and protect intellectual property through the Brand Portal. Sellers can also take advantage of flexible fulfilment services, ship goods directly from Asia into Walmart warehouses, and access a growing network of solution providers for compliance, integration and logistics.
Alerting their members of the event, Vicky Nuttall, Director of GIMA, commented: “This is a fantastic opportunity for GIMA members to explore one of the world’s largest online marketplaces and gain first-hand advice on how to break into the U.S. market. We’re delighted to be working with Walmart Marketplace to connect our members with new international growth opportunities.”
The UK Walmart Seller Summit will take place on the 9th of September. Full event and registration details can be found here.
