Owned by the Stubbs family, British Garden Centres (BGC) is the UK’s largest family-owned garden centre group with 62 locations around the country. Launched in 1987 with the opening of Woodthorpe Garden Centre, the company has expanded rapidly through the acquisition of garden centres, spread from Carmarthen to Ramsgate, Wimborne to East Durham.

The group employs over 2,700 employees working across the garden centres, restaurants, growing nurseries (2), distribution centres (4) and leisure park.

  • The group trades annually in 30,040 cut Christmas trees, 6,417 pot trees and 15,134 pre-lit trees.
  • BCG restaurants serve an estimated 17,000 diners, consuming 3,500 turkey butterflies and 15,000 portions of Christmas pudding
  • The centres stock 33 million energy-efficient LED lights, making up 1,314,302 meters of lit length
  • They stock 1,286,344 baubles, 56,828 garlands and 40,807 wreaths.
  • Over 258,608 meters of recyclable wrapping paper, free of foil and glitter.
