Kelsey Media saves Amateur Gardening

The 139-year-old magazine has been saved from cancellation through the acquisition by the publisher, Kelsey Media.

Amateur Gardening Magazine

The UK’s oldest gardening magazine announced that it would be closing with its final issue going out on the 14th of October. The closure of the magazine was attributed rising costs of paper, printing which paired with lower advertising revenues and circulation battles, led to its unfortunate demise.

However, news of a change in ownership from Marketforce stated that the magazine was not, in fact, going to cease but was set to transition to Kelsey Media starting from issue 42, scheduled to go on sale on the 14th of November 2023.

According to data from the National Title File, some disruptions for both retail outlets and readers are to be expected. For one month, starting from the 15th of October, there will be no new issues of the magazine. Kelsey Media’s inaugural issue Amateur Gardener is expected to appear on the shelves on the 14th of November. The cover price is set to change from £2.20 to £3.50 and it will now be a fortnightly magazine as opposed to weekly.
