Melcourt, a leading supplier of mulches, peat-free growing media, play surfaces and soil improvers have announced the appointment of Nikki Burton as Managing Director from January 2025. Burton, currently Operations Manager, joined the company in October 2023.
The current MD, Andy Chalmers, will retire in December 2024 after a long career at Melcourt since 1991. Chalmers has been involved in the bark and compost industry for over 45 years and has been a wealth knowledge and support to Melcourt during his tenure. Chalmers will become company Chairman from January 2025.
Melcourt is an independent, privately owned company, formed in 1983. Their customers focus is in the Landscape, Play, Grower, Garden, Builders Merchant, Equestrian and Industrial market sectors. Melcourt’s products are manufactured from British and European forest and wood processing industry residues with new raw material sources being systematically researched, trialled and tested, using the company’s in-house research and development facilities.
In May 2024, Melcourt were granted a Royal Warrant from HM The King. As holders of two previous Warrants from HM The Queen and the former Prince of Wales, the grant is a mark of considerable recognition for Melcourt. Royal Warrants are only granted to companies who have regularly supplied goods or services to the royal households. But importantly, they also have to demonstrate their environmental, social and charitable credentials.
