The new Level 6 Professional Arboriculturist Apprenticeship, integrated with a BSc (Hons) in Arboriculture and Urban Forestry was designed in collaboration with industry leaders and employers to ensure that graduates are equipped with the right skills and knowledge to thrive in the arboriculture and urban forestry sectors.

Delivered online over four years, the programme offers flexibility for working professionals, with the exception of a one-week intensive study session on campus between years three and four. Apprentices will have access to expert-led modules and receive ongoing support from a dedicated progress coach throughout the course.

The new apprenticeship is offered alongside existing online degree level options in the sector, including a FdSc Arboriculture and Tree Management, and both the BSc (Hons) and the MSc in Arboriculture and Urban Forestry.

“We’re excited to offer this innovative pathway that blends academic excellence with practical industry engagement. This programme reflects our dedication to supporting the next generation of arboriculture professionals, and ties in with our wider trees and timber strategy,” explained Paul McGrail, Executive Director of Apprenticeships at Myerscough.

Founded in 1894 as the Lancashire County Institute of Agriculture, Myerscough College is one of the oldest further education colleges in Lancashire.

Applications for the Level 6 apprenticeship are now open for the September 2025 intake.
