After a successful debut in May this year, Next Step Ahead will be organising a second series of Horticulture Career Showcases in October, promising a bigger and bolder event. Now backed by The Garden Media Guild, the Landscape Institute, the British Florist Association and the London College of Garden Design as sponsors.

Next Step Ahead is a not-for-profit organisation set up to create dynamic, accessible, and inspiring career development opportunities. The format blends expert talks with networking and hands-on insights, showcasing new career paths in horticulture.

Following its successful debut in May of this year, Next Step Ahead has announced a second series of Horticulture Career Showcases, to take place in October. This event promises to be “bigger and bolder”, with support from their new sponsors including the Garden Media Guild, the Landscape Institute, the British Florist Association, and the London College of Garden Design.

“After the incredible response to our first series, we knew the appetite for these events was real. with the support of the Garden Media Guild, the Landscape Institute, British Florist Association, and London College of Garden Design, we’re excited to showcase even more career pathways and connect people with the experts shaping the future of horticulture,” said Mandy Skeet, Event Organiser, Next Step Ahead.

Know as the “City Sessions”, the four-night programme will provide a series of inspiring talks, networking, and real-world career insights across Media, Sustainable Landscapes, Floristry, and Garden Design. Each workshop, will provide candidates with knowledge and practical advice, highlighting opportunities for career inspiration in horticulture.

The event aims to provide all those keen to take ‘the next step’ in horticulture the opportunity to meet leading industry professionals, discover sustainable and creative career paths, and to network in a relaxed, social setting with drinks, ideas, and future opportunities flowing freely.

The October 2025 City Sessions will take place from 20th – 23rd of October, at O’Neills, Euston Road (6:00 – 9:00 pm, covering:

  • Media: Careers in garden writing, presenting, content creation, and digital influence.
  • Sustainable Landscapes: Jobs that make a climate-positive difference.
  • Floristry: Creativity, flowers, and business in bloom.
  • Garden Design: Turning ideas into inspiring outdoor spaces.
