Translated from the Japanese for ‘dig’, the Hori Hori is a popular hand tool that can be used for a multitude of tasks such as digging, dividing, seed drilling, bulb planting and pot scraping.
One of their best sellers, Niwaki has launched an upgrade – the Hori Hori Pro which is now made from SK-5 carbon steel, making the (170mm) blade stronger and sharper. According to Niwaki, SK-5 Carbon steel has exactly the right proportions of Carbon, Chromium, Nickel, Manganese, Silicon, Phosphorous, Copper and Sulphur to create the perfect balance of tensile strength, edge retention and toughness.
In addition, to accommodate the needs of professional gardeners, the new Pro version has a new handle which has been designed to accommodate extended use in a variety of hand positions.
The Hori Hori Pro is hand-made, designed especially for Niwaki by third generation family craftsmen in Miki, deep in Hyogo – a well known horticultural blacksmith in Japan.
