The relocation follows last November’s launch of a new Liverpool-based parent company, 53 Degrees North. Spun Gold TV, Penny Lane Entertainment, post-production company Wise Wolf and a new production label Wise Wolf now come under this expanded banner.
From February, MD Daniela Neumann will be managing Spun Gold’s shows from its new production office in Digbeth which will also house edit and post production facilities in the future. These include a recommission for popular long-running BBC Daytime format Garden Rescue.
The move includes two new hires to join the new Birmingham production team;
- Sarah Trigg – Executive Producer. Sarah most recently worked with BBC Studios executive producing various DIY SOS specials in collaboration with EastEnders, Strictly Come Dancing, and Children in Need alongside launching a new Channel 5 emergency rescue series.
- Debb Swindells – Series Editor, with a long career spanning This Morning through to How to Look Good Naked, Embarrassing Bodies, Super Scrimpers, and My Kitchen Rules for various indies including Remarkable, Wonder, Maverick TV, and Blakeway North and for broadcasters including BBC One, BBC Two, Channel 4, Channel 5 and Discovery.
Spun Gold MD Daniela Neumann said: “Spun Gold will be celebrating our 20th anniversary from a new location as a fully-fledged Birmingham indie, and I’m delighted to be starting the new year in a new home, continuing to cement our longstanding relationship with BBC Daytime, with a recommission for Garden Rescue. I’m thrilled to be tapping into the wealth of regional creative talent with the hires of Debb and Sarah and to be joining other indies in the city in helping to deliver job opportunities for local people wanting to build careers in television.”
