The Beth Chatto Education Trust: Trustee

The Beth Chatto Education Trust is currently seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Trustee to join the Board and help steer the Trust’s vision, governance and strategic direction.

Beth Chatto's Garden

Established in 2015, the Beth Chatto Education Trust is dedicated to promoting sustainable gardening, fostering environmental awareness, and nurturing a deep appreciation for the natural world. Inspired by Beth Chatto’s pioneering vision of ‘right plant, right place,’ the trust aims to educate, inspire, and empower gardeners through the organisation of educational programs, workshops and community initiatives – designed to make gardening accessible, sustainable and rewarding for all.

A voluntary role, the role offers an opportunity to help shape the future of a respected educational charity with a meaningful impact on gardening and environmental education. The time commitment is flexible, with an expectation of attending quarterly meetings and offering support as needed. Trustees serve a term of three years, with the possibility of renewal.

As a Trustee, the candidate will play a vital role in ensuring their mission aligns with Beth Chatto’s legacy while embracing new opportunities to expand reach and impact. The Trust is looking for someone who shares their passion for environmental sustainability and education. Expertise in one or more of the following areas is desired:

  • Environmental or educational non-profits
  • Sustainable gardening or horticulture
  • Fundraising and partnership development
  • Financial management or legal expertise
  • Community engagement and advocacy
