The Right Jeans

The second of his Barnsdale trilogy, The Right Jeans is Nick Hamilton’s latest book.

Book cover The Right Jeans by Nick Hamilton about his father Geoff Hamilton

The son of gardening legend Geoff Hamilton, Nick Hamilton is an, author, writer and horticultural expert. He trained at Writtle College before gaining experience at several wholesale nurseries prior to going into business with his dad at Barnsdale. They worked together for several years before Geoff Hamilton passed away. Subsequently, Nick took on Barnsdale Gardens and, from 1997, opened them to the public. The gardens have continued to inspire and educate gardeners and non-gardeners who visit each year.

Hamilton’s new book picks up from where The Right Genes finished and continues his story through to his father’s untimely death in 1996.

“With the help of some extraordinarily talented BBC producers, Dad developed and presented gardening programmes of exceptional quality for seventeen years. His ideas were always original but practical enough for any gardener to adopt, and his warmth on screen gained him millions of fans,” explains Hamilton.

Many of the stories in this book show how the programmes were made whilst others describe his life off screen; all of these anecdotes illustrate his dedication both to horticulture and to his followers.

The Right Jeans will be released on the 25th of November 2024.
