MOROTO no IE

Kazuyuki Ishihara returns to the show with a garden filled with vibrant acers and waterfall, blending natural beauty the practicalities of life.

MOROTO no IE Garden RHS Chelsea FLower show 2024

The garden is divided by the central waterfall, tumbling into a pool, filling the space with the calming sound of water. Wall greening is actively incorporated into the design to camouflage and integrate the structure into the surrounding garden. Stairs to the main building sweep around the water feature towards a driveway. Any edges of hard landscaping are softened by natural moss-covered stones and blurred by the delicate foliage of the acers.

The planting colour scheme highlights the shades of green in the same tree species, and uses typical plants found in the natural landscape of Japan such as acer, pine, Farfugium japonicum, iris and mosses.

In terms of sustainability, the garden uses permeable paving, solar panel lighting, rain/grey-water harvesting and storage. The build will be managed by G-Lion Group.
