Following on from her first book ‘Sustainable Garden’, Marian Boswall’s new book is practical guide to regenerative gardening, enriching the environment as well as our lives in the process. With generous plans, diagrams and explanations, and striking photography by Jason Ingram , the book emphasises the importance of community, nature and spirituality and the integral role caring for gardens plays in the future of the world.
A step-up from sustainable gardening, which focuses on minimising our impact on the earth, regenerative gardening is about making an active contribution to the health of the planet: improving and replenishing biodiversity through our gardens. That could be a shady patio, a large plot of land or a windowsill – all will make an impact.
Drawing on lessons from forward-thinking farmers, foresters, re-wilders and nature itself, The Kindest Garden shows you how to create a garden that is both a beautiful sanctuary and a place where nature can thrive. Key elements of the garden (soil, water, ecosystems, materials, energy and planting) are explained on a deeper level and how to harness each one for a garden that makes a positive impact.
Marian Boswall is a landscape architect and horticulturalist, was a lecturer in Historic Garden Conservation at Greenwich University and is a co-founder of the Sustainable Landscape Foundation.
